Observations of learners and teachers
This part of the review considers claims that have been made about both the practices of learning and the practices of teaching in China.
The learning style or learning dispositions of Chinese students is considered first. Research that comments on this issue is generally based around either observations of learners as they study, or self-reports given by such learners in interviews or as responses to questionnaires.
We then move to consider research that reports on the forms of teaching that are apparent in Chinese school and college environments.
Links between established learning practices and widely-pursued teaching formats are explored.
