Study Patterns of China eLearners

The links on the left hand menu lead to a summary of results from one case study of elearners in China.

These learners were all in the second year of an online (distance) course on English language. They were asked to keep a day by day paper diary of their study times and the resources that they used. This diary included space for personal reflections on their progress. They were also interviewed by telephone at the end of the diary-keeping process.

The results show a diligent pattern of study whereby learning is distributed across all days of the week and generously across each day, although concentrated in the evenings. Use of online resources is somewhat limited although this is explained in terms of the special demands arising from learning a language and from integrating study with a domestic or working routine.
